The Appearance of Black Lamp and White Lamp
Nowadays, most outdoor led display are SMT with white led lamp, and the indoor led display, especially NPP(narrow pixel pitch) and stage led display, uses black led lamp. But what are the difference and how to choose?

The White LED Lamp

LED display is assembled from plastic brackets and illuminating wafers. The primitive illuminating wafer has low brightness sadly, but the smart engineers figured out an idea, to make the plastic brackets into a white bowl shape to enhance the focus and reflection, so as to make sure that the wafer can present a brighter effect.
Speak of the shortcomings of white LED lamp, that’s the color distortion on the led display. Because when we want to publish contents in black or grey, this LED lamp’s color (white) also involved in it (so we cannot publish black, gray, dark green, etc. with this lamp ).
In sum, the engineers sacrifice the color restoration to get higher brightness.

The Black LED Lamp

With the development of technology, the brightness of led display is getting higher and higher and white LED lamp is not our only choice. To meet people’s aesthetic requirement in the terms of color restoration, black LED lamp comes out. Because the black LED lamp can bring the contrast ratio to the level that the white LED lamp can’t reach to.
Pros and cons of the black LED lamp

1. The black LED lamp has a higher contrast ratio of 10,000:1 whereas the white 3,000:1. And it brings softer color because of this feature.
2. The led display would look more elegant when the power is off.
3. The black lamp consumes less power, and this means energy-saving and environmentally friendly.

We can manufacture higher-brightness wafers at present, but in the meanwhile, people has higher requirement in the visual performance, so there are still markets for black LED lamp, like US, European and Japan.
